The fireplace always has its charm: the warmth that envelops the room while lying comfortably in an armchair or on the sofa is priceless.
The modern design offers a wide choice both as regards the lining of the walls of the fireplaces and for the storage of wood. Attention is always paid to the harmony that the environment itself must have in the union of the elements.
The wall cladding
This choice will be the one that will first catch the eye, therefore it is necessary to evaluate the various options well.
Stone
Stone does not necessarily have to be associated with a rustic style, since if well balanced it can contribute to create a sober and elegant environment.
Cast iron
I obviously mean a cast iron worked in a modern way! it is usually used for particular solutions and made to measure.
Stoneware
The stoneware slabs give infinite possibilities. They allow you to replicate the aesthetics of marble at more affordable costs and guarantee many interesting alternatives, even imitating concrete.
Wood storage
As for the storage of wood, always in the case of modern fireplaces, the possibilities are numerous.
Thanks to plasterboard, it is possible to create structures of great elegance and simplicity, within which to place clean wood.
Below I have selected some of the solutions I prefer.
A niche in the wall
A good solution for storing wood is occupied by spaces already present inside the wall, and perhaps also libraries or already with the idea of becoming a shelter for timber. Or create an ad hoc niche when designing the fireplace.
The niche can be divided into several shelves, perhaps of different heights, in order to create a pleasant visual game.
A special wall
Some modern fireplaces are placed inside large structures that already include an integrated hold for storing wood. These are furnishing elements of a certain grandeur, with clean geometries and cold colors with a minimalist character, but made softer by the presence of wood along the entire height and heated by the flame of the fire.
In a sheet metal column
A sheet metal wood holder column can be designed to be inserted next to the fireplace wall.
The image below is perfectly integrated with both the fireplace wall and the dining table area, thanks to the shelves and the wooden bench.
Design containers
In the event that the square footage of the house does not allow the use of niches or ad hoc structures, an excellent solution could be to insert elements in harmony with the environment that can contain some stumps.
Among the possible alternatives, a small coffee table or a design table top will be perfect.
Another solution could be a basket in line with the rest of the furnishings or alternatively a painted steel structure with aluminum inserts that expose the wood to the view and with a decidedly minimalist character.
On the market there are hardened steel sheets that allow you to contain the logs by customizing their shape.
On the floor25
It is a bold and impactful choice. However, the simplicity of this solution must be accompanied by great care with regards to cleaning both the surrounding environment and the wood itself, to avoid a sense of disorder.
