Cecilia and Pietro contacted me because they had just bought a renovated one-bedroom apartment in Milan, in Porta Romana.
The apartment is located near the metro station, in a quiet street with little traffic!
Requirement
The house appeared empty, with only the floor laid, a medium-dark wood effect stoneware. The need was to create a living area that was comfortable and well furnished.
It’s the room on which they wanted to invest more, as often happens being the area where you receive relatives and friends and the first that you see when you enter the house.
The intervention had to be focused on the furnishing: no masonry work and no displacement of the already defined light points were contemplated.
Project
The project started with the definition of spaces. Times were tight because customers, for work reasons, wanted to move to their new home within a few months.
I started by defining the 2D layout that could better integrate the kitchen with the living area, maximizing the storage space.
Together with the customers, after various shared proposals, we opted for the solution that provides:
- linear kitchen on the wall where all the attacks had already been prepared
- island with doors and drawers
The sofa is positioned in support of the island, in order to create a small relaxation area.
The furniture on the floor in front of the sofa with wall composition can be purchased on Diotti.com (partner of my projects) and is a well-known Italian manufacturer of high quality furniture. Customers did not want TV, but the attacks had been set up right in that corner of the living room.
The sofa is instead of Ikea, and turns into a very comfortable bed! Ikea are also the pouf, the carpet (new collection 2018) and the vase holder (which I personally love).
Dining area can then be developed near the kitchen, with a table measuring 80x140cm, extendable if necessary. The chairs included in the render are the Fiorellina by Infiniti Design, in gray.
The library behind the dining table has been designed by me, with modules by Diotti.com and always by producers with Made in Italy quality.
This composition allows for closed compartments alternated with open compartments that lighten it. The whole is fitted with a wooden effect shelf that can serve as a support / emptying board for the entrance as well as for the desk area.
What do you think of this one-bedroom apartment in Milan?
