The current furniture, subject to new proposals coupled with innovation, has led to look at the bathroom in the perspective of a place where to look for comfort, ease and, why not, design.
There are now many proposals for bathrooms with parquet floors. I am in favor, but with some precautions!
Parquet in the bathroom: Yes for three reasons, which ones?
It can not be denied: parquet gives a high value of charm to the environment. Whatever it is. The aesthetic strength of the essence of the parquet completes all the furnishing elements.
Deeply customizable in color, finish and layout scheme, it loves every style solution from the minimal to the retro as well as classic through the hyper-technological.
If space is sufficient, moreover, wood can be combined with other materials. In this way, different areas are created, each with its own function, in the same bathroom.
Well yes. The parquet in the bathroom is functional. Just like the other traditionally used coatings. In fact, after a shower, let’s air the bathroom to dry the normal humidity that is created and do not leave stagnant water on the ground. Common measures prevent the moisture from settling and being absorbed.
The same principle for parquet: the same care prevents the wood fibers lose color and undergo structural deformation. Choose the parquet flooring in the bathroom only if it is not blind, without windows, and if its ventilation is optimal. However, an attention that applies regardless of the coating materials used.
Care and conservation
Parquet care is really simple. Much more than other surfaces. Vacuum cleaner and cloth slightly soaked in the right product are sufficient.
Wood, yes, is soft, compared to harder materials. But the secret lies in its natural softness: combining the right essence together with the finish is easy to remove traces and scratches without fear.
Seductive, easy, perpetual and firmly to the touch: aspects that affect the surfaces of the bathroom where it is normal to be barefoot.
From theory to practice: the choice of parquet
When choosing parquet for the bathroom, remember the variable given by the humidity. So the attention will be turned to the essences such as the Ash, the Oak and the Birch. They are very strong woods even in environments with a marked humidity.
For extreme moisture solutions such as, for example, saunas or Turkish baths, Durmast is indicated. It is also used for terraces and swimming pools. You can use it anyway even for the simple bathroom of your home.
Not only aesthetic but also cleaning: the hygiene of the parquet in the bathroom is preserved. In fact, with the appropriate waterproofing treatments, the microclimate due to humidity, due to bacteria and germs, is broken down.
Technical tips: pros and cons
The painted parquet is better for the bathroom. Unlike the oiled one, it has a higher microporosity that resists moisture absorption.
While for the installation the optimal solution is the glued one. Not the floating pose. In fact, the glued laying is a guarantee of greater insulation of the wood. As well as protection for all layers of parquet.
Any infiltrations are prevented by sealing, with the silicone, the plugs as well as the perimeter of the bathroom. In addition to insulating silicone, it maintains the natural elasticity of wood. Therefore a protection from solicitations of expansions and narrowings due to the living nature of wood.
