Pastel-colored kitchen: a trend from the Nordic countries
Until a few years ago, the choice of white was very common for the kitchens: the total white option was considered among the most elegant, fascinating and fashionable. However, it is inevitable that trends are influenced by the influence of other countries and, therefore, are going to undergo transformations with the passage of time. Lately it has come from the northern locations a different trend, focused on pastel-colored kitchens and grays of various shades.
Excellent solutions are rose quartz, anthracite, blue, primrose yellow, mint green. They are soft, fairy-like colors, able to give the environment an evocative touch of sweetness: not by chance, they are dominant in retro and romantic styles. These colors are ideal for trendy kitchens, not only for doors and drawers, but also for the table and even for the refrigerator. They are, among other things, simple colors to combine with each other thanks to the typical delicacy: you can get excellent results by combining a light gray to a pink or a sky blue.
The choice of Reform
These spring shades were also adopted by Reform, the Danish brand that allows you to customize Ikea kitchens. The latest collections made available have different pastel colors and the various shades of gray. These articles suggest sensations of warmth and intimacy, thus proving to be perfect for the environment that symbolizes the home.
The white, white and cold, is replaced by old rose, ocher, smoke gray, colors that testify to love for elegance and at the same time for simplicity. In addition, these solutions marry in an excellent way with wood, a material often used to make kitchen furniture.
On the Reform site I am impressed by the variety of finishes: the latter range from dark blue to pistachio green, from the aquamarine to the pearl, to the most particular colors such as dust, mauve and olive green.
In my opinion, pastel-colored kitchens, such as green or antique pink, are beautiful but adapt to just a few contexts. I would approve them in situations where the space available is wide and bright. Instead I think that the shades of gray are easier to match, if you are tired of the usual white!
Some practical tips
You can use pastel colors not only for the kitchen bases, but also for the cabinets. You can create a nice contrast with the wallpaper, with the tiles or with the coating plaster. A modern kitchen has essential furnishing accessories, in harmony with each other from the point of view of shades and shapes. Some prefer a table of the same color of the furniture, others prefer a wooden one left in the natural. The material in question possesses in fact evocative veins, excellent to be combined with the soft colors. Another suggestion is to use dishes and cups that match the context: it is important that these elements are in turn integrated into the space, as authentic ornamental objects as well as useful.
