Angolo del Poeta: peaceful holidays in Matera

by Elisa Monico

READ IN ITALIAN

L’Angolo del Poeta in Matera offers 3 different holiday homes in which to rediscover the essence of things and regenerate, thanks to the simplicity and refinement of the structure, the light colors and the absence of the superfluous.

The walls are in light stone and maintain the ancient structure of the houses of the past. The walls end with vaults that embellish in a discreet way the walls, of important height, typical of the past.

The furnishings: nothing is left to chance

In the suites, each piece of furniture has its own specific function: the dandy-inspired sofa, the antique wooden console with mirror, the Louis XVI style armchair, the bed with white wood structure.

The essential must not be confused with minimal, as each piece of furniture is designed to encourage concentration and relaxation, with discretion and functionality at the same time.

Even the white frames give even more light to the environment, which overlooks a delightful paved outdoor space, ideal for finding inspiration, enjoying the silence and regenerating.
The rattan armchairs are comfortable and offer pleasant moments, to contemplate the vases positioned here and there on the small terrace, decorated on the walls with typical elements of the ancient peasant kitchen, which blend well with furnishing accessories from other times, such as the wooden trunk.

Interior vaults: a source of mystery and inspiration

Visiting the interior spaces of the Angolo del Poeta, one cannot but be deeply struck by the columns and the vaults on the ceiling: it seems to be in another world, mysterious and rich in history, and at the same time you want to discover the rest of environments, in a path wisely dotted with different light sources: candles, floor lamps, discreet and almost imperceptible wall lights.
Following the path delineated by the stairs, you find yourself in front of a functional and minimal bathroom, although bordered by walls in light stone. The space is not delimited by doors or dividing elements, but also in this lies its peculiarity: the discretion that lingers in all the rooms makes the bathroom a natural continuation of the other rooms, in total naturalness.

The kitchen: tradition and simplicity, with refinement

The refinement of the kitchen is noticeable from the first moment, starting with the colored majolica tiles that decorate the top with sink and burners. The style recalls that of the past, of the ancient peasant houses, albeit with a refinement typical of contemporary design, in which each element is functional.

The spaces are wisely used, making the work environment practical and equipped with everything necessary. Here, too, nothing is left to chance, nor hidden: the daily functions are made simple and rich in meaning, and embellished by the antique wood of the furnishing accessories and by the value of the materials.

This is the environment that brings us back into contact with reality, and yet coexists with the other spaces of the Poet’s Corner, full of inspiration and dreams.
