In this post I will tell you of a mezzanine with a walk-in closet, a solution used in one of my projects recently realized and photographed. The project is “Loft in the heart of Milan“, which complete pictures you can see in the Portfolio section.
Customers Rossella and Marco decided to dedicate the bedroom to the girl. In the open space of the loft it was necessary to make a bedroom area! The high ceiling immediately brought to think about a mezzanine.
For me it is important in any project to create contenitive spaces, because the closets and cupboards are never enough in a house!
I immediately proposed to create a closet under the mezzanine. Proposal accepted with enthusiasm by customers!
Mezzanine: above the bed, under the walk-in closet
The height of the room was not really very generous, so it was important to evaluate the height of the closet since it’s important to be able to stay comfortably while choosing clothes.
On my design, the mezzanine structure was created in iron in order to create struts as slim as possible. The structure was then painted in black and white.
The side staircase and the floor of the bed area was covered with the same parquet used throughout the house, a natural oak.
Under the mezzanine a plasterboard closure was created, designed to delimit the closet and leave space for the stand alone fridge and a column or a cupboard.
But let’s enter now into the walk-in closet under mezzanine!
There is a sliding door, preferred in these cases. The interior is a small jewel: the wall spot light, indicated during the project, lights up in a uniform manner. The walls are covered with silver gray wallpaper, giving a not indifferent chic touch.
The wardrobe solutions are by Ikea, while an iron bar was recovered for the hanging rail.
Marco wanted to create here his “lonely” home office to be used occasionally for his work. In fact you can see an high stool with a shelf. We have 207cm in height so the space is comfortable!
What do you think about this project? Would you like to have a walk-in closet like this?
